Shining the Spotlight on Our Volunteers
April 18 to 24 is National Volunteer Week, a time to highlight the invaluable work that volunteers do across Canada – and right at home here in the Kawartha Lakes. The Grove Theatre is blessed with an ever-growing team of volunteers, all of whom deserve a huge shout-out. We invited just a few of these amazing people to introduce themselves to you in their own words. Perhaps their stories and their passion will inspire you to join them!
An Update From Our Team
Like everyone else these days, we’ve been keeping a watchful eye on the ever-evolving situation with COVID-19 and the public-health measures being implemented to combat the pandemic. While our hopes for a speedy end to the crisis have been buoyed by the approval of vaccines, those hopes are necessarily tempered by our knowledge of the challenges involved in their distribution, and by the further uncertainty introduced by the arrival of new variants of the virus.
Fundraising update: So close to setting the stage!
Our fundraising goal for the launch of our inaugural season is $600,000—and we’re thrilled to tell you that we’re over two-thirds of the way there! Our heartfelt thanks to all of you who have helped us get this far. But in fundraising, as with running a race, the challenge actually grows as you head into the final stretch. So if you haven’t already done so, please donate now and help us set the stage for a summer of exuberant entertainment that will restore the sunshine in our souls.
Theatre culture meets horticulture
There are so many people to thank for helping us get to where we are today, but we’d like to take this opportunity to thank one key partner in particular: the Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society. In building our venue amid a grove of trees, we felt it vital to enhance the arboreal canopy, both to maintain a sense of seclusion and to add to the natural beauty of the site. So we asked the Horticultural Society for advice, and their response was as magnificent as it was enthusiastic.
New faces in the family
Meanwhile, our General Manager isn’t the only recent addition to our family. With the support of the Digital Skills for Youth grant program and Lindsay-based organization Pinnguaq, we’ve been able to fill the following three intern positions. Meet our newest team members!
