New faces in the family
The Grove Theatre couldn’t exist without our wonderful volunteers and staff, a family that continues to expand. Over the past months, we’ve been looking for just the right person to take on a vitally important role in our leadership team, and that person has now been found. We’re delighted to introduce to you our inaugural General Manager, Nicole Myers-Mitchell.
Nicole’s passion for community and education, along with her previous experience in theatre production and fundraising (she comes to us from Roseneath Theatre in Toronto), makes her a perfect fit for us—and the enthusiasm is mutual.
“The passion I saw with the Leadership Committee, and the excitement I could feel beaming from anyone I spoke to about the project, was rather infectious,” she says. “How could I not want to be part of that? I’m excited to make The Grove Theatre home for my family.”
Speaking of homes, Nicole is now looking for one to rent—as close to Fenelon Falls as possible—for herself, her husband, Chris, and their two-year-old son, Max. The family intends to rent from now until the latter half of 2021, while they look for something to purchase.
Nicole, of course, will be working closely with Artistic Directors Christy Yael and husband Sean Cox to fulfill the vision of The Grove Theatre. Christy and Sean, along with their two children, will also be relocating to the Fenelon Falls area for the summer months of June through August, so they too are looking for somewhere to stay.
This is where our wonderful community comes in! Do you know anyone with long-term rental space? Or perhaps a holiday-home neighbour who isn’t able to travel to the Kawarthas this summer? If you can be of any help in finding accommodation for these members of our leadership team, please contact us at info@grovetheatre.ca.
We’ll also be reaching out to the community in the months ahead to house and support our incoming performers during this summer’s inaugural production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Musical.
Meanwhile, our General Manager isn’t the only recent addition to our family. With the support of the Digital Skills for Youth grant program and Lindsay-based organization Pinnguaq, we’ve been able to fill the following three intern positions:
