Drama Camp 101 (Junior and Senior Camp)

  1. Registration will open Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 10am.

  2. Within 24 (business) hours after registration, The Grove Drama Camp will be in touch by email, providing you with payment information and a Camper Information Form.

  3. Important camp information, including The Grove Drama Camp Handbook, will be emailed to you by June 28, 2024.

  4. To ensure your child is prepared for Drama Camp, please review all of our General Camp Information below.

  5. Attend Drama Camp! 

  6. The final Friday of every camp, at 2:00pm will include a live performance. Parents and guardians, be sure to save the date!

Registration

Registration will open Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 10am

Camp ages are based on your child's age at the time of camp.

  • Camp registration is required as limited spots are available.

    If more than one child is attending per family, a registration must be completed for each child.

    Registration must be made under the parent/guardian name. Within 24 (business) hours of registration, you will receive more details from The Grove including payment information and a detailed Camper Information Form.

  • Once you have received your registration package, payment is required within 5 business days by e-transfer to info@grovetheatre.ca, or by cheque submitted in-person at 2 Water Street, Fenelon Falls. Office hours are 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday. Please indicate your child's name in the memo section of the e-transfer or cheque. Cost per week for both Senior and Junior Drama Camp is $260 + HST ($293.80 total per week).

  • Financial assistance may be available for low-income families. Please indicate your request for assistance on the registration check out-questionnaire. We will contact you directly to discuss the options available. To ensure we are able to honour a request for subsidy, camp registration must be made by February 22, 2024 at 4pm.

  • The Grove Drama Camp is dedicated to being as inclusive as possible, and to accommodate as many campers with special needs as we can. We recognize that with our limited resources we may not always have the capacity to provide the support these campers might require. We know that each child's situation is unique, and our goal is to ensure that each child at The Grove Drama Camp has a positive and safe experience. If you are registering a child with special needs, please indicate accordingly on the registration check-out questionnaire. We will contact you directly to discuss the options available. To ensure we are able to honour a request for special needs support, camp registration must be made by February 22, 2024 at 4pm.

  • Junior and Senior Drama Camp 2024 registrations are limited to 25 campers per week. Once we are full we will begin to fill our waiting list online so please feel free to join our wait list anytime during the registration process. Please register for the wait list as soon as you can for the best chance to get into the week you are interested in.

  • Refunds must be requested at least six weeks before the start of camp. Refund amounts are as follows: Until June 16: full refund, less $75 (per registration) cancellation and processing fees. Until four weeks before camp: 50% refund. Within four weeks of the start date of camp: no refund.

General Camp Information

All Camp programs will take place in Fenelon Falls, ON. Exact location(s) will be

confirmed. Some, if not all, of Drama Camp will take place outdoors.

  • Camp runs from 9:00am until 3:00pm, Monday-Friday. There is no extended care, before or after, and we respectfully ask that parents/guardians are on time.

    9:00 - 10:15am Group A: Acting | Group B: Production (creating costumes, props, set design)
    10:15 - 10:35am Nutritional Break
    10:35 - 11:30am Group A: Production | Group B: Acting
    11:30am - 12:30pm Lunch
    12:30 - 1:25pm Group A: Dance | Group B: Voice
    1:25 - 1:45pm Nutritional Break
    1:45 - 2:55pm Group A: Voice | Group B: Dance
    2:55 - 3:05pm: Pick Up

  • The Grove will mainly communicate with parents/guardians by e-mail. Communication will be sent to the e-mail address that is associated with your registration.

    A phone number will be provided closer to your camp date for emergencies.

  • Code of Conduct:

    The Grove Theatre Drama Camp maintains the highest standards in regards to appropriate behaviour at camp, and does so to ensure a safe, enjoyable camp experience for all participants.

    We ask that all children attending camp follow guidelines and interact appropriately in a group setting at all times. These guidelines include:

    • Demonstrate respect in their interactions with other campers, artist educators, staff, and volunteers;

    • Respect the property of other campers, staff, volunteers, and The Grove Theatre;

    • Listen to artist educators, staff, and volunteers.

    If a child is unable to follow the Behaviour Code of Conduct, the following steps will be taken:

    • Re-direct the child to a more appropriate behaviour;

    • Review the Behaviour Code of Conduct with the child;

    • Leaders will notify the Camp Director and a discussion will take place to determine how the child can be best supported moving forward;

    • Artist Educators and staff will document the occurrences;

    • The parent(s)/guardian(s) will be notified of the behaviour/incident;

    • If the behaviour persists, The Grove Theatre Drama Camp Director and/or educators reserve the right to remove the child from Drama Camp.

    The following behaviours may result in immediate removal from camp programming:

    • Endangering the health and safety of oneself, other children, camp staff, or volunteers;

    • Theft or damage of property;

    • Leaving/running away from the program without permission;

    • Use of profanity, vulgar, or obscene language;

    • Acting in a lewd manner.

    • Bullying, harassment, threats, and/or violence.

    Harassment and Bullying

    The Grove Theatre is committed to creating and maintaining a positive, safe and professional work and camp environment. In support of this, The Grove expressly prohibits any form of bullying, discrimination and harassment, including sexual harassment, as defined under the Ontario ​Human Rights Code​ and well as with compliance with CAEA’s Not In Our Space.

    Each of our campers deserve the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities delivered in a fun, active, and safe environment that is free from harassment.

    Artist Educators and staff will act to quickly address incidents of bullying and take the appropriate actions to remediate the issue. In the event of continued or recurring acts of bullying, The Grove reserves the right to remove participants that are unable to follow the behaviour expectations as outlined in the Behaviour Code of Conduct above.

    Attendance

    For your child's safety, if your child is going to be absent from Drama Camp please email camp@grovetheatre.ca with the child's first and last name and the date they will be absencamp@grovetheatre.cat or late.

    Please note, if staff does not receive a message from you and your child does not arrive during the scheduled drop-off time, calls will be made to confirm whether your child will be attending the program. This is in efforts to ensure your child’s safety during the hours of Camp programming.

    Parents/Guardians will be required to present government issued photo ID. No exceptions.

    Absent/No Show

    We do not issue refunds for illness, no-shows or last minute cancellations.

    Immunization

    Immunization is a key component of The Grove Drama Camp’s efforts to help ensure a healthy environment for everyone at camp and, as such, our immunization requirement is aligned with the Trillium Lakelands District School Board and the Province of Ontario. If your child is exempt, a signed Statement of Medical Exemption/Statement of Conscious Religious Belief (copy) is required.

    If no vaccination schedule is received, the Camp will assume your child(ren) has not been vaccinated. Any camper without such required vaccinations will have to leave Camp if an illness breaks out at Camp that could put them at risk (in our doctor’s sole discretion) with no refund of camp fees in any part.

  • Before arriving at camp:
    Here is a checklist to make things easy in advance of camp:

    • Complete child registration and payment

    • Review camp policies

    • Review the Camp Handbook

    What to bring to Camp:
    Campers are encouraged to bring the following to Camp each day. Please label all of your children’s items.

    • A reusable water bottle

    • Nut free lunch (+snacks depending on schedule??)

    • Bug spray

    • Sunscreen

    • Hat

    • Closed toe shoes

    • Extra set of clothes

    Please avoid sending the following items:

    • Toys

    • Personal valuables

    • Weapons

    • Lighters or matches

    Lunch and snacks:
    Snack/meals will not be provided during camp programming. Children are required to bring lunch and snacks each day to camp.

    We are a nut-free camp. Peanut butter, nuts, tree nuts, and/or any food that contains nuts are not permitted. If you are bringing WOW butter, please clearly identify it as such. Lunches can not be refrigerated and there is no access to have food heated.

    Outdoor camp:
    Please provide sunscreen with the child’s name on it in their backpack. Staff will encourage campers to apply sunscreen twice per day. The Grove Theatre Amphitheatre is outdoors. On days where campers are at the Amphitheatre, please have campers arrive at Drama Camp with sunscreen already applied. Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water and cool clothing to help with the heat.
