You Can Play a Part!

Play a part in our 2023 season!

Do you have a self-contained apartment for rent? Do you have a spare room in your home? Are you subletting your room or cottage this summer? Or do know someone who is?

One of the hardest things for us to accomplish is finding housing for our out-of-town artists while they are working at The Grove. We have 13 artists joining us for our mainstage productions this season and they need somewhere to stay! Are you able to help? Ideally, we are looking for accommodation within walking or cycling distance from Fenelon Falls where we will be rehearsing. However, some of our artists do have vehicles, so accommodation across Kawartha Lakes is also of a great help to us.

We will require accommodation in or close to Fenelon Falls for the following dates:

Technical Director.....May 8 - Sept 16, 2023
Stage Manager (2)....June 12 - August 28, 2023
Actors (6)..............………..June 18 - August 28, 2023
Choreographer…........June 18 - July 29, 2023
Music Director.......…...June 18 - July 29, 2023
Designer..................……..June 26 - July 29, 2023
Designer..................……..July 3 - 29, 2023

These are professional artists who will be busy at the theatre for most of their time with you and are simply looking for a clean, safe, and welcoming home to sleep in at night.

What does a rental or billet look like?

  1. Private bedroom

  2. Basic furnishings (bed, lighting, place for clothing storage)

  3. Internet available

  4. Access to a washroom and kitchen

  5. Bonus if there is laundry!

We do not require our housing partners to cook, provide food or do laundry for the billet, just provide a house, apartment, bunky or room at an affordable rate. Suggested rental rates can be approximately $100/week or complimentary accommodation is always welcomed. Our housing partners are key to our successful summer operations. If you are able to offer accommodations, The Grove Theatre would like to thank you with 2 complimentary tickets to the opening night show of each of our main stage productions.

We understand that many summer homes, second properties or resorts in the area are for income and that we can’t compensate to the degree that individual tourist may be able to. Renting to us not only allows us to bring some top theatre professionals to our community, but brings attention to other local businesses in and around the town. Our aim is to build on our towns sense of community by promoting each other. We are willing to work with property owners that would like to collaborate in marketing and cross promoting businesses.

The Grove expects that both Artist and Billet respect each other while living in each other's space. There are no expectations on either side to engage in social activities with each other, but mutual respect is mandatory. Harassment and discrimination of any kind from either party is not tolerated whatsoever.

A Note on COVID-19:
For the safety of all those involved in our productions, we request that all Grove Theatre artists and the homeowners who welcome them, are fully vaccinated.
